چکیده

Targeting of non-pulmonary vein triggers (NPVTs) after pulmonary isolation (PVI) may reduce atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence. Incrementally dosed isoproterenol infusion (up to 30mcg/min) and cardioversion induced AF used provoke NPVTs typically requires additional vasopressor support increases procedure time. We aimed identify risk factors for the presence in order patient profiles which NPVT provocation would have greatest yield. Using Hospital University Pennsylvania ablation registry, we compared patients whom were observed not using a standard protocol. defined as single or sequence ectopic beats triggering non-sustained sustained focal tachycardia. Continuous variables unpaired t-Test categorical Fisher exact test. In total 1,306 between January 2021 August 2022, 87% underwent testing 10% all had observed. Pulmonary vein isolation for atrial fibrillation.

Nonpharmacological treatment for atrial fibrillation (AF) has evolved dramatically over the past 20 years. Pulmonary vein isolation, a catheter ablation technique developed in the last decade, prevents focal triggers in the pulmonary veins from initiating episodes of AF. Although the procedure initially involved focal ablation with a catheter directly in the pulmonary veins, investigators subse...

Lone Atrial Fibrillation: Risk Factors, Triggers And Ablation Techniques.

BACKGROUND Since its introduction in 1953, lone atrial fibrillation (LAF) has not been defined with any consistency, resulting in an enormous variation in the way the term is used. Inherent to this, results from studies vary considerably. Many predisposing factors and pathogenic influences have been discovered over the past years, which raise the question if the term LAF should still be used an...

Non-pulmonary vein mediated atrial fibrillation: A novel sub-phenotype

BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a mechanistically heterogeneous disorder, and the ability to identify sub-phenotypes ("endophenotypes") of AF would assist in the delivery of personalized medicine. We used the clinical response to pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) to identify a sub-group of patients with non-PV mediated AF and sought to define the clinical associations. METHODS Subjects en...

Pulmonary vein isolation for treatment of atrial fibrillation.

consecutive procedures of pulmonary vein isolation were performed for treatment of paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation. These interventions constitute the initial experience of the Instituto Cardiovascular de Buenos Aires, where 260 procedures are currently performed each year. Our population consisted mainly of men with an average age of 55.58 years; 71.9% had no history of cardiovas...

Pulmonary vein isolation using transvenous catheter cryoablation for treatment of atrial fibrillation without risk of pulmonary vein stenosis.

OBJECTIVES We sought to evaluate the efficacy and safety of pulmonary vein (PV) isolation using transvenous cryoablation for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF). BACKGROUND Although electrical isolation of PVs with radiofrequency energy for the treatment of AF is feasible, it is associated with a significant risk of PV stenosis. Cryoablation is a new alternative therapy allowing ablatio...
